How to Get the Weird Pictos¶
Near the end of the Prologue, after the Gommage, Gustave will attend a festival with Expedition 33. During the festival, you’ll be able to earn festival tokens to spend at one of the stalls there. You can earn the tokens by talking to the other members of the expedition, playing their game, and you’ll obtain the tokens. You don’t need to choose which reward you want, as you can obtain enough tokens to acquire them all.
There are three tokens in total, one that you start with, the second by defeating Maelle in a Duel, which you’ll find near the harbor, and the final one can be obtained by talking to Antoine and select the following answers - “67 years ago”, “Expedition Zero”, and “Abilities you internalise by using a Pictos in battle after enough times”. Once you’ve obtained a Token, speak to Tom, who will be in the first tent on the left, and exchange your token for the Weird Pictos.
(1 of 2) Tom has the Weird Pictos, and you’ll find him in the first tent on your left.
Tom has the Weird Pictos, and you’ll find him in the first tent on your left. (left), Hand over your token to acquire the Pictos. If you don’t have one, defeat Maelle in a duel or complete Antoine’s quiz for one. (right)
Where to Use the Weird Pictos¶
Progress through the game until you reach the Gestral Village, which will be early on in Act 1. In the village, head north until you reach the “Chief’s House”, but don’t enter it yet. Instead, look to the west to find the “Gestral Bazar” sign, and head over toward it. Enter the bazaar, and talk to Gestral Merchant (who you’ll find out is Jujubree), who is the first Gestral to your left.
(1 of 3) Go toward the Chief’s House in Gestral Village, and then go west to the bazaar.
Take a look at its wares, and when you exit the shop, Jujubree will mention that it found a similar Pictos the other day. Jujubree will hand it over to you, converting the Weird Pictos into Augmented Aim. If you already have this Pictos, it’ll level it up to level 5 for you.
That’s it for the Weird Pictos, underwhelming, right? Yeah, we know, but it does upgrade a good Pictos early on in the game, so it’s not a complete bust.
