On random days, except Sunday, Redd will show up in his tent to sell works of art. You can only buy one piece of art per visit and it is possible that you’ll buy a fake.
The table below outlines how to spot fakes when buying artwork. This is important as Blathers won’t accept fakes when donating art work to the museum.
The man in black is on the left and the man in white is on the right in the real painting. If the man in black is on the right and the man in white is on the left, the painting is fake.
Basic Painting
Only one of the blue boy’s arms should be bent, the other should be straight. If both of his arms are bent, the painting is fake.
Dynamic Painting
If Mount Fuji is small, the painting is real. If Mount Fiji is large and fills up the space between the water, the painting is fake.
Famous Painting
The Mona Lisa’s fingers point to the bottom right corner of the painting. If her fingers point to the bottom left, the painting is fake.
Graceful Painting
In the real painting the beauty is looking to the right.
Jolly Painting
The nose in the fake painting is made of a carrot. In the real painting it is made out of a green vegetable.

Quaint Painting
The milkmaid is wearing a hat in the real painting. No hat means it is fake.

The real painting has all his fingers pointing. In the fake painting, only one finger is pointing on each hand.
Serene Painting
The fake painting has a fluffy white cat but the real painting has a skinny cat.
Solemn Painting
If the blonde girl in the middle is twice as tall as the girl on the left, the painting is fake. The real one has both girls on the left at the same height.

The painting is real if the left side is lighter than the right. The fake has the dark side on the left.

The real painting has a blue hat whereas the fake painting has a red hat.
