Text

Bohemian villages underwent a significant transformation at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Peasants could inherit farms and wages, and trade began to have clear rules. The shape of the villages also changed – from chaotically scattered homesteads to organized plots with a regular geometric layout providing ample space for roads and markets. The number of houses ranged around 20 to 25.
The center of the village was the village green – a public space that served as a social, cultural, and economic hub, with fences marking the village boundaries.
